Good Friday in Portugal

Good Friday is a Christian religious date that commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death on Calvary. The holiday is always observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday, the sixth day of Holy Week in Western Christianity and the seventh in Eastern Christianity (which also counts Lazarus Saturday, before Palm Sunday). It is the first day (which begins on the night of the celebration of the Mass of the Lord's Supper) of the Paschal Triduum and may coincide with the date of the Jewish Passover.

This day is considered a national holiday in many countries around the world and in much of the West, especially Christian-majority nations.
